A bar of Muonionalusta meteorite, set in a sterling silver or 9ct yellow gold tag with a polished chamfer round the face and a solid top that carries the loop. The back is plain metal, engraved with the meteorite's name, where it was found and the year.
Muonionalusta is one of the oldest meteorites known, about 4.5 billion years old. It was found in 1906 near the Muonio River in the north of Sweden. Cut and etched, it shows the Widmanstätten pattern, a crosshatch of crystals that only grows when molten iron cools over millions of years, so it cannot be made on Earth.
We set the bar by hand and close the metal over its edges, so it sits snug and stays put. Every bar is cut from a different part of the meteorite, so yours will not look exactly like the pictures.
The tag is 12mm wide and 36mm tall, including the loop, and both the silver and the gold tag come on a 2mm sterling silver box chain in 45 or 50cm. Made to order and ready in one to two weeks.
