Muonionalusta is older than the Earth. It is a piece of the core of a small planet that melted, separated and broke up while the Solar System was still forming — which is why it is solid iron, and why the crosshatch lattice took millions of years to grow. It was found in Sweden in 1906, near the Muonio River, and about 230 kg has been recovered in total. Four Ice Ages have passed over it since it fell.
